PBSO Deputy Educates Mother in Child Passenger Safety

In the afternoon of Monday, June 12th 2017, District 16 (City of Greenacres) Deputy Gregory conducted a traffic on a vehicle for an expired registration within the City of Greenacres. As Deputy Gregory was conversing with the driver, he noticed a 2 year-old child not properly restrained in a child safety seat. Deputy Gregory requested Deputy Gonzalez, a certified technician in Child Passenger Safety to respond in which he did. Upon Deputy Gonzalez’s arrival he too began to converse with the driver/mother of the child and learned that the mother had only a booster seat for her. Upon inspection of the seat, Deputy Gonzalez realized that the seat was not the proper fit for the child based on age and size.

Given that District 16 has partnered with Safe Kids Palm Beach County and has a number of Child Passenger Safety educated and prepared Technicians , Deputies Gregory and Gonzalez were able to provide a brand new Graco Convertible Child Seat to the mother free of charge. PBSO Deputy educated the mother in child passenger safety all while installing the seat together making the family ride much safer!!!! The mother was very appreciative and thanked all involved.

Safe Kids Palm Beach County is a community based program that offers safety education and materials to families to decrease preventable injuries in children from 0 to 19. They offer educational materials for drowning prevention, home safety, pedestrian safety, bicycle safety and child passenger safety.

This is just another way that PBSO and its partners are serving the community to the fullest extent and to highest standard.
