Welcome to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office District 5 website. My name is Captain Ed Luty and it is my pleasure to serve as the Commanding Officer for the Glades. My staff and I are honored that the tri-cities have chosen to partner with the Sheriff’s Office so that through teamwork, we can strive to make the community a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit. Throughout the course of my 33-year career with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, several of my assignments have been in the Glades community. These assignments have included contract deputy at the Okeelanta Sugar Mill, the Operational Watch Commander for the Western Region, a prior tour as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer for District 13 (Belle Glade) and Commanding Officer for District 12 (Pahokee).
Our administrative offices are located at 38840 S.R. 80, Belle Glade. The Sheriff’s Office promotes a community policing philosophy with an emphasis on reviewing crime statistics in an effort to identify predictive trends in order to offer a proactive response to our law enforcement activities on a daily basis.
As the Commanding Officer, I thank you for the opportunity to continue serving your community.
Thank you,
Captain Ed Luty
