On August 21, 2023, at 2:27 am, deputies responded to a shooting in the 1200 block of Periwinkle Place, Wellington. Upon arrival deputies made contact with a large crowd outside of the residence and learned that a gun had been discharged/fired inside the residence. Upon further investigation, deputies learned a victim suffering from a gunshot wound(s) was transported to a local hospital for treatment by a friend.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division arrived on scene to investigate this shooting further.

Today, August 25, 2023, detectives learned that the victim, an adult male, succumbed to his injuries.  This incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Detectives are still in the preliminary stages of this investigation.  More information will be released when it becomes available.
