FDLE, PBSO & State Attorney’s Office Investigating a Deputy Involved Shooting

PBSO was involved in a Deputy Involved Shooting that occurred on Evergreen Drive and 9th Street, Lake Park.

PBSO TAC Units had probable cause to affect an arrest on a felony suspect that was seen driving, in a red vehicle, in the area of Evergreen Drive and 9th Street, Lake Park.  At approximately 4:00 pm units attempted to affect a traffic stop on a vehicle when the suspect exited the vehicle immediately firing at deputies as he was attempting to flee.  Two PBSO deputies returned fire. The suspect was located approximately a block away deceased from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Two PBSO deputies involved in the shooting are currently on paid administrative leave which is standard department protocol as FDLE (the lead investigators), PBSO Violent Crimes detectives and the State Attorney’s Office investigators  investigate this Deputy Involved Shooting further.

More information will be released when it becomes available.
