Around noon today, detectives from the TAC Unit were serving an arrest warrant on a suspect for armed carjacking, at a residence in the 1500 block of Jody Road, West Palm Beach.  Upon detectives’ entry, the suspect fled to a bedroom and shut the door. At that time, a gunshot was heard. Detectives immediately retreated and called for the “on duty” SWAT Team to respond to the scene.

Once SWAT members arrived on scene and took position, announcements for the suspect to surrender began. After repeated announcements and no response.  SWAT members utilized law enforcement techniques.  SWAT members found the suspect deceased on a bed with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division are investigating this death investigation/suicide.
