The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is still investigating a cold case regarding the murder of Cynthia Moffett in 2006. We had a Conversation With a Deputy event at Bridges at Highland Elementary School. Students and volunteers from the Pre-Kindergarten Education Program stopped by to meet their local deputies and ask lots of questions. We had a blast!
Rachel Hurley: Murdered 29 years ago
Sunday marks the 29th anniversary of Rachel Hurley's murder. On March 17th, 1990, Rachel Hurley, only 14 years old at the time, was brutally murdered in Jupiter Florida while with her friends at the beach. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has produced a mini-documentary on the events that took place that day. Today, we honor the memory of Deputy Sheriff Kevin D. Mathews who died in the line of duty a day like today, 27 years ago. While providing a motorcycle escort to a presidential candidate, Deputy Mathews was struck by a passing vehicle, his injuries were fatal. To serve and protect was his oath, to honor him is our duty.
