Deputy Involved Shooting – Unincorporated West Palm Beach

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in the 7400 block of 43rd Terrace North, in unincorporated Riviera Beach.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a female standing in the home’s carport. While they were speaking with her to gather information, an adult male exited the residence, walked past the female, and retrieved a large machete from nearby bushes.

The male then advanced toward the deputies, swinging the machete above his head.  Deputies immediately backed away and attempted to de-escalate the situation. They issued numerous verbal commands, urging the subject with the machete to drop the weapon.  Despite these repeated commands, the suspect continued moving toward the deputies. At this point, a PBSO deputy discharged his firearm, striking the suspect.

Deputies promptly rendered aid on the scene, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment by Riviera Beach Fire Rescue, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

In accordance with standard agency protocol, the involved deputy has been placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are actively investigating the incident.
