Fatal Hit & Run Bicycle Crash

Did you happen to see a car crash into a bicyclist that occurred just before 11 pm on Thursday, August 12, 2021, in the 5100 block of Lake Worth Road? The driver fled and the bicyclist passed away.

Witnesses described the vehicle1 as a four door full size pickup truck.

This is what our investigators found…
The pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Lake Worth Road in the 5100 block in the outside lane. The bicyclist was southbound across the eastbound lanes of Lake Worth Road in the 5100 block. The bicyclist rode into the path of the pickup truck, causing a collision between the front of the pickup truck and the right side of the bicycle. As a result of the collision, the bicyclist wrapped onto the hood of the pickup truck and the bicycle was run over and dragged eastbound under it. The bicyclist fell off the driver’s side of the pickup truck and struck the roadway. The bicyclist came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Lake Worth Road next to his bicycle. The pickup truck fled the collision eastbound on Lake Worth Road. The bicyclist was pronounced dead on scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Witnesses described the truck as a four door full size pickup truck. Next of kin have been notified.
