PBSO, PBC State Attorney’s Office and FDLE Investigate Deputy Involved Shooting – City of Belle Glade
At approximately 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, deputies responded to reports of an altercation in the 900 block of SW Avenue G Place in Belle Glade.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that a woman had just returned home and was retrieving groceries from her vehicle when she was approached—without warning—by an unknown adult male. The suspect, unprovoked, struck the victim with a large rock. A neighbor across the street witnessed the attack and attempted to retreat into her home. The suspect then turned his attention to the neighbor and attempted to forcibly enter her residence by throwing an object through a window.
Deputies arrived on scene as the suspect was still actively engaged. Deputies issued multiple verbal commands for the suspect to drop the items in his hands and show his hands. The suspect ignored all commands and began advancing toward the deputies. As deputies retreated for their safety, two deputies deployed their tasers, which had no effect.
Despite continued commands, the suspect wound up and threw one of the objects in his possession toward deputies. At that time, a PBSO deputy discharged his firearm, striking the suspect in the lower extremities.
Deputies immediately rendered aid on scene. The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Criminal charges are pending.
The initial victim was treated at a local hospital for a head injury and is expected to make a full recovery.
As per standard agency protocol, all deputies (two) involved have been placed on administrative leave.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are actively investigating the incident.
