Traffic Enforcement Initiative

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division will be conducting a Traffic Enforcement Initiative TODAY in West Palm Beach. ::YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED::

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) the month of April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The traffic division will be conducting traffic enforcement in unincorporated Palm Beach County enforcing all traffic violations with a focus on distracted drivers.

According to NHTSA you are four times more likely to be involved in a traffic crash due to distracted driving such as cell phone use, texting, eating and drinking. In 2012 an estimated 421,000 people were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving a distracted driver, this was a nine percent increase from the estimated 387,000 people injured in 2011. This initiative is being conducted to reduce the increasing issue in Palm Beach County. This will be done by increasing enforcement and education to make the roadways safer for everyone.
