Slater is one of the strongest people we know. He was diagnosed a few months ago with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma and is being treated for 18 months at St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. His story and courage have inspired all of us here at PBSO. Our SWAT and the K9 team sent Slater a surprise gift to let him know that he is #SlaterStrong. Hang in there Slater, we love you.

From his family –
“Oh my gosh you guys!!! I had wanted to create this video compilation of us opening up this absolutely incredible surprise gift from PBSO – Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and their SWAT and K-9 teams (then that night Slater had unexpectedly gotten re-admitted at 2am back in the hospital, so sorry for the delay!) PBSO sent us these official, hand-signed jerseys, gorgeously framed with beautiful, inspiring words to my little one. We read their official letter, and they gave us a CD with a video (which I uploaded here as well). I will admit to both Shane and I not having a dry eye after watching that video… you won’t either. We are deeply touched, surprised, so so humbled, and eternally grateful. I am tearing up just writing this right now. We live literally across the street from your PBSO station and have even visited your station and saw your SWAT mobiles just a week before our diagnosis and hospital admittance. Both of the boys were in awe of the station, and Slater proudly stated he already saw the SWAT team in his preschool for Career Day and he was so excited and proud ❤ ? It may be that you will have two new cadets in the making! PBSO, SWAT & K-9 teams, you’ve inspired not only my boys, but our whole community, and have shown us what real heroism is – caring for, protecting, serving our community, helping and inspiring our children, and lifting them up when they need you the most, and giving. You are our everyday heroes, the finest people we know. You are all heart. ❤ We are forever thankful for this incredibly AWESOME gift, for your letter, your words, and mostly, your love and compassion. We are forever thankful for you all. I still fall short of words… thank you, is simply not enough. Please know you’ve permanently impacted each of us, we will never forget what you’ve done for us, for Slater. As soon as we get back to Florida, we are thanking you ALL in person!!! God bless you! ??❤️? #grateful #pbso #slaterstrong #teamslater #pbsoswat #pbsok9 #love #community

(For those of you who don’t know, my little one was diagnosed a few months ago with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma and is being treated for 18 months at St Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Prayers needed ??❤️)
