Deputies are Investigating a Drowning

On Saturday, March 15, 2014, at approximately 3:15 pm, deputies responded to a possible drowning.

Witnesses tell deputies that a male was operating a remote control speed boat in the water area near Plantation Mobile Home Park when the speed boat capsized. The male entered the water in an attempt to recover the boat. For reasons unknown the male went underwater and never resurfaced. Witnesses on scene entered the water but was not able to locate the male.

PBC Fire Rescue divers arrived on scene and immediately entered the water in an attempt to rescue the male. Sadly the male was recovered by divers at 5:20 pm.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division as well as Crime Scene Investigators are en route to the scene to investigate further.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
