Shooting/Homicide that occurred in Belle Glade, September 2, 2024

Shortly after midnight on Monday, September 2, 2024, deputies responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Belle Glade. Upon arrival, deputies located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. One male was pronounced deceased on scene. The second male was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Deputy Stabbed in Business Robbery

On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at approximately 4:31 PM, a robbery was reported at a business located at 4180 South Jog Road, Greenacres. An off-duty PBSO deputy who entered the business became aware of the ongoing robbery and intervened. During the encounter, the deputy sustained stab wounds to his torso and hand. At approximately 1:50 PM, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) dispatch center received a call reporting a bomb threat. Search for Victims in Airplane Crash – North County Airport

At 2:12 pm, deputies responded to the 11600 block of Aviation Blvd (North County Airport).  Deputies learned that an aircraft with two occupants entered a body of water nearby.  Currently, PBSO divers, PB Gardens Fire Rescue and PBC Fire Rescue divers are in the water searching for the occupants. WPB PD Marine Unit and PBSO Marine Unit are in route to assist further.   More information will be released when it becomes available. 

Operation Southern Slowdown – July 15, 2024 through July 20, 2024

PBSO is joining state and local law enforcement agencies in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee for a week-long high visibility enforcement and awareness campaign, to reduce fatalities and serious injuries by getting motorists to obey speed limits on roadways from local to interstate highways.
