PBSO Investigates a Possible Drowning/Death

On Friday, October 27 at 5:15 pm, deputies made contact with Edgar Velez who was wanted on multiple counts of Burglary and Grand Theft. Shortly after contact, Velez fled on foot and jumped into a nearby canal located at 10th Ave North and Florida Mango, Lake Worth. Velez refused assistance from deputies and appeared to begin to struggle. Velez went underwater and became unresponsive. PBCFR responded and transported Velez to JFK Medical Center (South) where he is currently in critical condition.

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, detectives were advised that Edgar Velez, 1/26/85, had passed away. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
