Bicycle Crash – 100 Block of Lake Avenue, Lake Worth

Pedestrian 1 (P-1) was improperly riding a bicycle eastbound on Lake Avenue just east of the draw bridge within the inside lane of travel.Vehicle 1 (V-1) was traveling eastbound on Lake Avenue within the inside lane approaching the peak of the draw bridge. Crash on US 441 South & Kimberly Road, Boca Raton

Vehicle-1 travelling southbound within the outside lane of US 441 South, approaching the intersection of Kimberly Road.

Vehicle-2 was lawfully travelling westbound on Kimberly Road, attempting to traverse the intersection of US 441 South, under a green traffic signal.

As Vehicle-2 entered the intersection, Vehicle-1 ran the red traffic signal for southbound traffic and subsequently collided with Vehicle-2. During the collision, the front of Vehicle-1 violently impacted the passenger’s side of Vehicle-2.

Palm Beach County ranks sixth (top 25%) in the State of Florida, for counties with a population of over 200,000, for traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists. In 2022, in Palm Beach County, pedestrians and bicyclists were involved in 1,357 collisions, resulting in 135 serious injury crashes, and 69 fatalities.

Deputies Remind Residents to “Lock It or Lose It”

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has been experiencing an increase in vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles occurring in neighborhoods in Wellington, Royal Palm Beach and Loxahatchee. Many of the burglaries and stolen vehicles have occurred due to owners forgetting to lock their vehicles and leaving the key fob in their cars.

Bomb Threat

Around 5:04 pm, PBSO deputies assigned to the airport, PBSO Bomb & Arson detectives and FBI agents responded to concourse C where a passenger made a verbal threat that he had a bomb in his bag(s). All patrons in the Concourse C area were evacuated to the terminal area.

Murder/Suicide in Wellington

Update: The family has rescinded Marys’s Law.

The victim has been identified as Brittany Carter, DOB: 11/20/1988. 

Shortly after 5:00 pm, deputies responded to a double shooting/homicide in the 2100 block of Balsan Way, Wellington. Upon arrival deputies located a female and male deceased from gunshot wound(s).

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division arrived on scene to investigate further. Detectives believe they have accounted for all parties involved in this double shooting/homicide and there is no threat to the public.
