On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at approximately 10:12 p.m., Charles McCloud Jr. began a series of shootings at multiple locations throughout Pahokee. Between 10:12 p.m. and 10:54 p.m., the following incidents occurred:

The first shooting took place at 171 Booker Place, where McCloud shot two adult males. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. The second shooting occurred in the 8700 block of Doveland Drive. Multiple shots were fired; however, no individuals were struck. The third shooting occurred at a convenience store, located at 750 Belle Glade Road, where McCloud shot an adult male. The victim is expected to survive.

Shortly thereafter, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. As a PBSO deputy was conducting a preliminary investigation into the reported shots fired in the 8700 block of Doveland Drive, securing the area with crime scene tape, McCloud intentionally drove his black GMC SUV at the deputy, striking him and pushing him approximately 40 feet. McCloud then exited the vehicle armed with a firearm and attempted to shoot the injured deputy. The deputy discharged his service weapon, striking and killing McCloud. A second PBSO deputy also discharged his service weapon during the encounter.

The injured deputy sustained serious injuries and is currently being treated at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Charles McCloud Jr., 44, had an extensive criminal history, including charges for Riot, Resisting an Officer with Violence, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Narcotics Equipment/Possession, and Escape or Attempted Escape from a County facility.

In accordance with standard agency protocol, the involved deputy has been placed on administrative leave. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office, and PBSO’s Violent Crimes Division are actively investigating this incident.
