Major Eric Coleman

oversees the West Regional Bureau of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office which encompasses nine Sheriff’s Office districts west of 441/SR 7 for mid-western and western Palm Beach County. The districts include the cities of Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, Loxahatchee Groves, Westlake, Belle Glade, South Bay, and Pahokee, as well as unincorporated areas of the Acreage and western Palm Beach County. In addition to the Patrol Districts, Major Coleman oversees the PBSO Traffic Division. The Traffic Division comprises Vehicle Homicide Investigations, Motor Unit, DUI Unit, Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement, and the Breath Alcohol Testing Unit. The West Region has a combined staff of 380 dedicated men and women committed to serving the citizens of Palm Beach County.

Major Coleman has been a resident of central Palm Beach County since 1973. Since his law enforcement career began in 1985, Major Coleman has served in a variety of assignments throughout Palm Beach County at every rank, to include: Uniform Operations, investigative assignments in Crime Property, Homicide, Special Victim’s Unit, Court Services, Internal Affairs, and Narcotics.

Major Coleman is a graduate of Barry University; the DEA Drug Unit Commander Academy; the FBI National Academy, Session #264; and Leadership Palm Beach County, Class of 2020.  Major Coleman is married with four children.
