
Meet Major Sean P. Murray
Major Sean P. Murray serves as a member of the executive staff and commanding officer for the Governmental Operations Bureau. As bureau commander, he is responsible for an annual budget of over $43.8 million with a staff composition of 174 sworn and 32 non-sworn civilian workforce. The Bureau consists of three divisions: Air Operations, Court Services, and Emergency Management.
It is a large multidisciplinary organization providing operational, strategic, and tactical capabilities, including: courthouse, courtroom, and special contract facilities security services; all-hazards and emergency management planning, training, and coordination, including Southeast Florida Regional All-Hazards Incident Management Team and Florida Sheriffs Association Forward Operating Team personnel; and airport security services and responses, which significantly multiply our agency’s abilities, capacities, and resources.
From 1989 to 1995, he served as a state law enforcement officer for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (formerly Florida Marine Patrol). In July 1995, Major Murray joined the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Major Murray earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Studies from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Command Officers Development Course, University of Louisville, Kentucky, and Senior Management Institute for Police, Boston University, Massachusetts. Major Murray is the law enforcement chairman for the Regional Domestic Security Task Force (Southeast Florida Region 7).
