Undercover Investigation Ongoing for a Suspect Wanted on a warrant for Armed Robbery

Investigators in an undercover capacity were conducting surveillance on a suspect wanted on a warrant for Armed Robbery/Shooting. The suspect was located at an establishment in the 8300 block of Resource Road, Riviera Beach. The wanted suspect was exiting the establishment, with an unknown male, when he noticed the investigators. He and the unknown male ran to a white vehicle in an attempted to flee. While attempting to flee, the unknown male rammed the investigators vehicle. The investigators followed the males approximately a mile before the driver drove past the RacTrac gas station and into a lake. As the vehicle was floating both individuals exited the vehicle and attempted to swim away.

Investigators entered the water and immediately apprehended the one of the males. The investigators searched for the other male. PBC Fire Rescue responded to the scene and also searched for the other male. He was found a short time later underwater. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The male driver was taken into custody. Once he is medically cleared, he will be transported to the PBC Jail.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division and Crime Scene Investigators are currently on scene investigating further.
