Scam Alert – Imposter Claiming You Have a Warrant

Scammers are getting more creative. Don’t fall prey to them!

BEWARE … there is an imposter calling members of the community and claiming to be Sgt. Demetrick Powell (most recent name) from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.  This imposter is advising the recipient of the call that he/she or a member of their family has a warrant for their arrest. The imposter goes on to say that the warrant can be paid in the form of a “voucher” that could be bought from Walgreens.

FYI – the recipient of the last call challenged the imposter by saying, she believed this call is a SCAM! The imposter then advised the recipient to look up his LinkedIn page describing himselfThe recipient still reluctant to believe the imposter, frustrated the imposter and he uttered the recipient could be arrested.

This is a scam!  PBSO Employees DO NOT CALL for Money or Personal Information nor will they give personal information for proof of identity.
