Welcome to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office District 12,City of Pahokee website.
I am honored to be selected as your Law Enforcement Commander of the City. Our administrative offices for District 12 are located at 38840 SR 80, Belle Glade, Florida. The following is a little background for your reading pleasure: The City of Pahokee is nestled on the eastern banks of Lake Okeechobee and is located in western Palm Beach County. The city offers direct access, via the Herbert Hoover Dike, to the largest freshwater lake in the State of Florida. The Lakefront venue offers some of the most incredible sunset views to be witnessed and has led to the local slogan “Palm Beach Counties Other Coast”. The City itself encompasses an area of 5.4 square miles and is bordered by both sugarcane fields and Lake Okeechobee. Pahokee is home to approximately 6,500 residents who commonly refer to the area as “Muck City” referring to the extremely rich and fertile soil which produces a multitude of crops each year. The City of Pahokee contracted Law Enforcement services through the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office beginning in February of 2006. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has many highly trained and professional deputies assigned to patrol the City and to provide a full range of law enforcement services and to facilitate resources, as needed, to its citizens. Please feel free to contact me for any assistance you may need.
Thank you, Lieutenant Dan Picciolo.
Lieutenant Daniel Picciolo is a career law enforcement officer with over 22 years of service. Prior to making a career move to PBSO, he served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves and began his law enforcement career in one of the largest city police agencies in Broward County. In Broward, he was selected for many special assignments including the Special Problems Unit.
He then furthered his career progression and started with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in 1995. In the beginning of his PBSO career as a Deputy Sheriff, he worked in the Northern Part of Palm Beach County and then took on additional responsibilities such as a member in EFF (Emergency Field Forces), SWAT- Hostage Negotiation (Squad Leader/ Training Coordinator) and Agent in OCB/ Tactical Unit.
He then wanted to move into supervisory responsibilities and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2005. He served the Southern Palm Beach County, and was later selected to participate on the City of Belle PD merger transition with PBSO in 2006. With seeing the rewards of having partnerships with the community, he took a Sergeant position at the PBSO Eagle Academy for troubled youths. This was very rewarding, by giving back to the community and coaching, mentoring young adults at those cross roads in life. Many graduates went on to Law Enforcement agencies, Corporate America, NFL and became productive adults. This was one of the most rewarding moments in his career, to see the outcomes of solid hard work and the end product of changing young lives.
He then went to work at Palm Beach International Airport and took a focus on the homeland security aspect of his career. Working at the airport gave a global view of the importance of intra/inter communications w/ TSA, FBI, Secret Service etc. and the overview safety and security for citizens from all over the country. He then was promoted to Lieutenant and worked road patrol operations and then moved into an administrative role where he now severs as an Executive Office for Western unincorporated cities and Commander of the City of Pahokee.
