Detectives Investigate a Homicide in the 2800 block of North Military Trail

UPDATE

After further investigation, Lawrence Chavers Jr., and a 17 year old juvenile were determined to be involved in the homicide/shooting that occurred during the early morning hours on April 2, 2023.  An arrest warrant was obtained for Chavers Jr. The juvenile is currently in jail due facing charges on another homicide.

On September 26, 2023, Chavers Jr., was located, arrested and transported to the PBC Jail to face the charges listed below.

Deputies patrolling in the 2800 block of North Military Trail, West Palm Beach, heard what appeared to be gunshots. Upon arrival to the area, no victims were located.  A short time later, PBSO dispatch received a call from WPB PD/FHP that victims of a shooting were found in a vehicle on Interstate 95 northbound just south of 45th Street.  Deputies arrived on scene to find one victim inside the vehicle deceased, a second victim suffering from gunshot wound(s) and a third victim uninjured. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injures. The uninjured victim advised deputies that he and the other occupants/victims were in the area of the plaza where the gun shots were previously heard.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division arrived on scene to investigate this shooting as a Homicide.  Suspect information and the motive of this shooting is unknown at this time.
