Deputy injured and Suspect on the Loose

We are investigating a Stolen Vehicle, Deputy injured and Suspect on the Loose – occurred in Unincorporated Boynton Beach and ended in City of Boynton Beach.

Deputies observed a stolen vehicle, silver 4 door Mercedes, enter the Casa Brera Luxury Apartment Complex, which is a gated community. Deputies were preparing to tactically stop the vehicle when the driver rammed through the closed gate. As the gate flew open it caused injury to our deputy. Our deputy, in fear of the oncoming vehicle, discharged his firearm. No one was struck by gunfire. The driver fled, was NOT pursued by deputies, to Lawrence Road and Miner Road (city of Boynton Beach) where he crashed the vehicle into a pole and fled on foot.

A perimeter was immediately set up to search for the black male suspect. Additional information on suspect is unknown.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division and Crime Scene Investigators are currently on scene investigating further.

PBSO injured deputy is in stable condition.
