U.S. DOT awards PBSO Grant

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration, to address railway trespassing in the City of Lake Worth Beach.
The proposed project will address railway trespassing in the City of Lake Worth Beach, home to three miles of FEC railway and three miles of SFRTA/Tri-Rail Commuter railway, through enforcement activities and community awareness.

PBSO is seeking the public’s assistance in a “Hit and Run” traffic crash investigation. The crash occurred last night at 9045 S. Jog Rd. at approximately 9:55 pm in front of the library.  An elderly male was struck and killed while standing next to his driver’s side door after he stopped for an unknown reason. Double Shooting on Haverhill Road

Shortly before 7:00pm, deputies responded to a vehicle that came to rest/crashed in the 4100 block of N. Haverhill Road in West Palm Beach. Upon arrival, deputies located one male deceased from a gunshot wound(s) and one injured from a gunshot wound(s) inside the vehicle. The injured victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Child Struck In First Weeks Of School

An 8 Year Old was struck by a driver this morning because they did not obey the crossing guard.
2nd week of school and driver Fails to Obey a School Crossing Guard and strikes an eight year old student in front of Barton Elementary School. The driver, Myra Pelico Ordonav, 27 years of age, of Lake Worth was cited for NO DRIVERS LICENSE and Failure to Obey a Traffic Device.

Location: 13771 Okeechobee Boulevard
Incident Date: 02/15/15 Incident Time: 3:00 pm
V1 was traveling westbound on Okeechobee Boulevard between “F” and “E” Roads. For unknown reasons, V1 left the roadway to the north. V1 struck a mailbox and continued west. The front of V1 violently impacted a wooden utility pole. D1 was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with injuries.
