Trash Clean-up

PBSO Dist. 1 CP unit, conducted a clean-up operation at multiple locations throughout District 1. Using inmate workers, the amount of trash, debris, and furniture cleaned up totaled approximately 21 cubic yards.

The first location cleaned was the vacant lot located north of the shopping plaza at 4483 S Congress Ave. All of the trash was cleaned up along the roadway and the grass was mowed back to the fence line utilizing equipment loaned to us by All State Equipment.

The second location cleaned was the county property located in the 5300 block of S Congress Ave across from JFK Hospital. With the assistance of County Park employees and their equipment, the inmates cleaned up abandoned homeless camps and a large quantity of trash along S Congress Ave. Contact was made with 4 individuals currently residing on the property in tents. They were offered services, but all declined.

The third location was the homeless camp in the 4800 block of Southern Blvd along the canal. The occupants of the camp had already vacated and taken their personal belongings. The inmates cleaned all the remaining trash which was clearly visible from the roadway.

As always, Cpl. Moss was an integral part of the planning and preparation for this operation. County Parks was contacted and coordinated a joint effort in which we could utilize their trash compactor and small off road vehicle to haul and dispose of all the trash removed from the property across from JFK.
