The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office School Traffic Safety Unit is charged with the responsibility of providing safe passages for the children who walk and ride bicycles to and from school. This is done by ensuring that designated school crossings within the county are fully staffed with trained and certified crossing guards.
The unit works closely with other entities such as Palm Beach County School Board and the County Traffic Engineer's Office on a variety of
issues including the developing and maintaining of safe routes for children, addressing traffic problems, and enforcing state laws. The unit relies heavily on its education and traffic enforcement endeavors to accomplish its objectives.
The School Traffic Safety Unit is comprised of one sergeant, three deputies, one law enforcement aide, one cadet and 167 allocated crossing guard positions. The county school district is broken down into three sectors: North
Sector - north of Belvedere Road to north county line, Central Sector - Belvedere Road to Lantana Road, and South Sector - Lantana Road to south county line.

The School Traffic Safety Unit is presently accepting applications for School Crossing Guards, the position requires that you will work Monday through Friday (working post in the early morning and early
afternoon hours total 3 hours per day)
The unit also would like to encourage volunteers to become part of the team. Their job function would be as follows:
