Police Report

Hello. My name is Kathy Ruby and I am proud to introduce myself as the Civilian Divison Manager of the Central Records Division. I have been serving the citizens of Palm Beach County since 1986 in varied areas within the agency. These 24 years of experience has provided me a unique understanding of law, its application and how to provide the best customer service for all citizens in need of Central Records services.

The Central Records unit has a total of 46 members who work at our Headquarters office and also our off-site locations at District 9 in Royal Palm Beach, in the city of Belle Glade at District 13 and in the City of Lake Worth at Distrct 14. Central Records offers many services for our customers such as:

  • Background checks
  • Police Letters of Clearance
  • Adoption Letters (Domestic and International)
  • Police Records (Criminal, Informational and Accident reports)
  • Identity Theft Reports

Access to these records has been made much easier by storing them in an electronic format. Annually, over 2 million related records are scanned and stored for a more efficient work flow. This work flow provides the customer a quicker response to any public records request. We also have an automated "redaction" system when removing data that can not be given out to the public as stated in Florida Law. This protects the victims of crimes and any sensitive information such as social security numbers.

Furthermore, Central Records continues to service the public with the work that is completed "behind" the scene. Central Records processes and maintains all booking data records, all supplemental data for police reports, processes and distributes all public records requests for the agency and evidentiary tape reproductions. This division also reviews and processes the annual and semi-annual report to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope it provides you with answers to any of your questions. But if you need additional information, please contact the division at 561-688-3140 or email us at emailcentralrecords@pbso.org.

Sincerely,
Kathy Ruby
Central Records Division Manager
