Welcome to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office District 11, City of South Bay website. I am Sergeant Jeffrey A. Garten, the Law Enforcement Commander for District 11. I feel it is an honor to have been selected to this position and I will continue the superb work that my predecessors have started. I work closely with City Officials and the Community as a whole to keep an open and friendly atmosphere that addresses the needs of the Community.
I have been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since 1987 and have been assigned to: Road Patrol (Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant), Tactical Unit (Detective, Detective Sergeant), SWAT (Entry Team, Squad Leader), Detective Bureau- Property Crimes (Detective), Narcotics Division (Agent), Honor Guard (Squad Leader), DUI-Traffic Division (Sergeant) and Community Policing (Sergeant).
I proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard for 34 years, recently retiring in November 2014. I enlisted in 1980 as a Private and retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel, having spent most of my time in Special Forces and Special Operations.
Our ultimate objective is to work together in making the city of South Bay a safer place for you and your families to live. My doors are always open and I truly look forward to addressing the challenges that lie ahead, and confident we will meet each one together.
Yours in Service,
Sergeant Jeffrey A. Garten
