Fatal Accident – 24000 Block of SR80, BG

Vehicle 1 was traveling westbound in the eastbound inside lane of State Road 80 in the 24000 block. Vehicle 2 was traveling eastbound in the eastbound inside lane of State Road 80 in the 24000 block. As Vehicle 2 was eastbound, Vehicle 1 drove into the path of Vehicle 2. This caused a violent collision between the front of Vehicle 1 and the front of Vehicle 2. As a result of the collision Driver 1 was ejected from Vehicle 1 and into the roof of Vehicle 2. Driver 1 then traveled over the top of Vehicle 2 and struck the roadway. Driver 1 came to rest in the inside eastbound lane of State Road 80. Vehicle 1 was redirected eastbound in the eastbound lane of State Road 80 and came to rest in the center of the eastbound lanes of State Road 80. Vehicle 2 continued eastbound in the inside eastbound lane and was brought to a controlled rest facing eastbound in the inside eastbound lane. Driver 1 was pronounced dead on scene by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Driver 2 did not receive personal injury. Next of Kin Has been notified.
