Fatal Accident – 16000 US Highway 441, Pahokee, Florida

On February 20th, Vehicle 1 was traveling northbound in the northbound lane of US HWY 441, in the 16000 block. Vehicle 2 was traveling southbound in the southbound lane of US HWY 441, in the 16000 block. Driver 1 drifted into the southbound lane into the path of Vehicle 1. Driver 2 applied the brakes to Vehicle 2 in an attempt to to avoid Vehicle 1. Vehicle 2 began to slide southbound and Vehicle 2 started to jackknife into the northbound lane. Vehicle 1 reentered the northbound lane and the front of Vehicle 2 collided with the front of Vehicle 1 in the northbound lane of US HWY 441. Driver 1 was ejected from Vehicle 1 and tumbled into a ditch east of the roadway. Vehicle 2 drove over Vehicle 1 post collision. Both Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 2 remained together and traveled south east to an uncontrolled rest. Driver 1 was pronounced decease on scene due to injuries sustained during the collision. Driver 2 did not receive personal injuries during the collision. Next of Kin Has been notified.
