Suspect Arrested for Aggravated Battery on LEO, Fleeing, Eluding and Resisting Arrest

On May 20, 2022 at 11:54 AM, PBSO Community Service Aid (CSA) noticed an individual in a gray sedan (2020 Nissan Altima, Maryland tag) acting erratic. The male was blocking southbound traffic with his vehicle and would not let traffic around him at the intersection of Haverhill Road and Loring Drive, in unincorporated West Palm Beach.

Deputies attempted to make contact with the vehicle when the driver ignored commands and drove into a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office marked vehicle.  Deputies gave the male driver verbal commands to exit the vehicle.  The driver ignored all commands and drove away.  Deputies utilized stop sticks to stop the vehicle.  Deputies approached the vehicle in an attempt to remove the driver from the vehicle when the driver initiated a physical altercation.  Deputies utilized less lethal 40 mm to subdue the suspect which had no effect. After a brief struggle the suspect was taken into custody.

Several deputies as well as the suspect were treated by medical personnel for minor injuries.

The suspect, Jerome Dawkins, DOB: 9/17/1986, was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding, Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer/Nurse and Resisting Arrest with violence.  He was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail and should be attending first appearance on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
