Field Training |
Uniform Services consists of five major geographic districts and three districts with special service responsibilities. Each District is commanded by a Captain responsible for district law enforcement patrols, general property crimes investigations, and community policing activities.
District I headquarters is located in the main Sheriff's Office Complex. The 188 square mile district covers both urban and residential areas in the central county and coastal area.
District II provides contractual security services. The services are provided for the Department of Airports at Palm Beach International Airport.
District III headquarters is located in Palm Beach Gardens and covers 344 square miles in north county and coastal areas. It is primarily residential with some urban and agricultural areas.
District IV headquarters is located in the city of Delray Beach. The 296 square mile district in the south county and south coastal area consists of both urban and densely populated residential communities.
District V headquarters is located in Belle Glade. The district, which includes rural communities and agricultural areas, covers 1,259 square miles in Western Palm Beach County.
District VI is responsible for a myriad of special units such as Aviation, Parks Patrol, Marine Patrol, Mounted Unit, and K-9. District VI units support all law enforcement districts.
District VII headquarters is located at the Town Centre Mall in Boca Raton. It encompasses an area bordered on the north by Clint Moore Road, on the south by the Broward County line, on the east by the City of Boca Raton and on the west by the Everglades.
Wellington Contract provides law enforcement services to the Village of Wellington. This planned community of more than 10,000 acres has a population of 27,687 residents.
Community Involvement Team (CIT) is a multifunctional unit that provides varied educational and informational programs throughout Palm Beach County. Some of the programs provided by CIT include Community/Juvenile/Gang Intervention, Anti-Drug Education in schools, Victim-Witness Assistance, Domestic Violence Interventions, Youth Athletic Programs, Handicap Parking Enforcement, Citizens Observer Patrol, Serious Habitual Offender Program and Juvenile First Offender and Truancy Interdiction Programs.
Field Training prepares all newly hired law enforcement officers for their responsibilities as solo beat officers. The program also provides training to newly promoted sergeants and officers who have transferred from civilian to uniformed positions.
