BUDGET

The 1998/1999 budget was developed to ensureBudget Fiscal Year 1998-99 that commitment to provide efficient and effective services remained consistent.  The new budget was developed in an effort to maximize resources, address increasing law enforcement needs in specific areas and increase technical capabilities to allow personnel to accomplish more and reduce growing manpower requirements. Careful consideration was given to anticipated growth, demographics, diversity, impact of tourism, traffic, and calls for service.

The budget was inclusive of the revenues needed to open and operate a new district in the heavily populated south county areas.  This expansion constituted the first expansion of patrol districts in two decades.

REVENUES

Principle revenues are acquired from county home and business property taxes.  Approximately 39% of all funding is procured from sources other than property taxes. Those sources include utility taxes, service fees, grant funding, state funding and user fees.
