PBSO Deputy was traveling northbound on Seminole Pratt Whitney Rd in his patrol vehicle, with his lights activated warning drivers of a loose/wild horse running across the roadway into oncoming traffic. Once the horse passed our deputy, he made a right turn to drive onto the shoulder of the road, when a vehicle traveling behind him failed to slow down striking him in the rear passenger side of his truck. PBSO deputy was transported to Palms West Hospital where he was treated and released. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

The horse kept traveling south, finally coming to a stop (collapsed from heat exhaustion) after bouncing off a vehicle trying to help corral him on East Downers Drive.

Great ending … after immediate assistance from the horse community, the equine veterinarians, PBSO and PBC FR, the horse was able to get into the trailer and was transported to a controlled environment for further treatment.
